Doing a track like「Berbunga」needs both your left-brain and right-brain. You need to be creative; a right-brain issue i supposed. But you'll need the left-brain too, which is about organising. You need that Mozart element in all musicians to power your brain like a Logic Studio Pro™ software, or a least something a GarageBand™ if all else fails...
I realised I missed work. Not the 9-5 sort of work that I have resigned from ever since I reset my musical life, that’s for sure. It’s just that: there’s something nerdily attractive about enjoying the art coming to life when the audience are not looking. It’s a personal thing that only the creator or practitioner can know as he/she engages 1 on 1 with the song, script or screen. It’s the heart of the performer in the height of practice and the composer, at the heart of creation.
Today, I’ve spent some time in front of a Youtube video of the Man who had made a thought like this possible. The speech he was making in this one had his ever trademark charm and was filled with many proclamations that we know is ever true, but might, or still may, just be a little gutless to admit that they are so.
I’m a concerter by heart. It’s a vicious cycle: when i have lost all the answers, i turn to music, music of my friends, for their take on life and love. I like to listen to the music, the words and the everything in between. Most of the time, I like to find a way to describe them. And when i’m soaked to the bone, i will write my stories to continue these thoughts.
Even with the modest crowd, the deceptively quiet Film students unleashed a horde of questions to the two Guest Professionals after they got acquainted with the Presenters. Although ‘instigated’ to pop personal questions to the duo, their enquires ranged from basic to hidden concerns, but all very practical, hinting doubts and hopes about taking the road as an arts practitioner here in an over-pragmatic metropolitan country.
